The brief

To create the soundtrack for humanity’s first sight of Mercury through the telescopes of the BepiColombo spacecraft, during its first flyby of the planet on Oct 1, 2021.

Creative concept

An evolving musical piece in 7 parts with a new part of the track revealed at each flyby. A music that embodies the mystery of the vast unknown and undiscovered universe, a sense of anticipation, arrival and deep curiosity.

Key takeout

Part 2 of the musical piece was released in June 2022 with BepiColombo still having 5 more flybys over the next 4 years before entering into orbit around Mercury. We will continue to create the music for each flyby as we see more of this beautiful mysterious planet.
